Trump’s 800 + Election Lies
Former President Trump has continually characterised the 2020 Presidential election as “rigged,” “stolen” or “a hoax,” even as a mountain of evidence proved otherwise.
Before the 2020 election had even concluded, he and his 18 ‘Allies’ – also included in the criminal indictment – laid the groundwork for a concerted campaign, falsely challenging the integrity of the ballot at every level.
Those lies are now central to two criminal indictments brought against him and them – by the Justice Department and the State – in Georgia and formed what prosecutors have described as the bedrock of his attempts to overturn the election.
According to a database compiled by The Washington Post, he made, in public, or on social media – more than 800 inaccurate claims about the election – from the time the polls began closing on Nov. 3, 2020, to the end of his Presidency,
He continuously repeated the – ‘rigged’. ‘stolen’ – ‘hoax’ mantra but the plan also included a range of other falsehoods which were more specific – such as:

- The voting and counting process:
“Last night I was leading, often solidly, in many key States, in almost all instances, Democrat run and controlled. Then, one by one, they started to magically disappear as surprise ballot dumps were counted. Very Strange, and the ‘pollsters’ got it completely and historically wrong!”
Not only repeated many times, after the election, this same lie was broadcast even before – the election started! Trump describing the legitimate vote-counting process as ‘suspicious’.
He must be a clairvoyant, as well.
Seriously – in the lead up to the election – many informed observers were already predicting that he was planning to challenge the result and was now just ‘sowing the seeds.’
- Vote Verification:
“Everybody knows that dead people, below age people, illegal immigrants, fake signatures, prisoners, and many others voted illegally.”
He has claimed – with no evidence at all – that tens of thousands of dead people voted in key states: 20,000 in Pennsylvania, 17,000 in Michigan and 5,000 in Georgia.
He also said:
“In Detroit, turnout was 139 percent of registered voters. Think of that. So, you had 139 percent of the people in Detroit voting.”
“All of the mechanical ‘glitches’ that took place on Election Night were really ‘THEM’ getting caught trying to steal votes. They succeeded plenty, however, without getting caught. Mail-in elections are a sick joke!”
“The Fake recount going on in Georgia means nothing because they are not allowing signatures to be looked at and verified.
“In Pennsylvania, the Secretary of State and the State Supreme Court in essence abolished signature verification requirements just weeks prior to the election, in violation of state law. You’re not allowed to do that
“In Fulton County, Republican poll watchers were ejected, in some cases, physically from the room, under the false pretence of a water main burst, ‘everybody leave’ – which we now know was a total lie. Then election officials pull boxes, and suitcases of ballots out from under a table.”
This was also claimed, in a live speech on Jan. 6, 2021, shortly before a mob of his loyalists stormed the Capitol.
“I don’t know, where are the votes counted, which we think are counted in foreign countries, not in the United States.” (I don’t understand this either.)
“With over 74 million votes, over, think of that, more than, I got more votes than any sitting President in history, 11 million more votes than we got in 2016.”
I have reproduced just a sample of the over 800 lies from Trump, as compiled by the Washington Post – as the quotes are in the public domain from a range of sources – I do not consider them -copyright protected.
However, the Post also conducted a detailed – almost forensic – investigation of the accuracy of the statements.
They and their specialist advisors were able to refute every single statement – some on multiple grounds,
That is to say – on the basis of truthfulness – they blew every one of them – ‘out of the water’.
I have not reproduced these in relation to the above quotes – on the grounds that they are obviously original works and copyright protected.
Secondly – because they are not easy reading – unless you’re a lawyer, I suppose – and they are not of direct relevance to our understanding -that all of Trump’s lies are provable as such.
I am really looking forward to – what Federal Prosecutors and a jury – make of Trump’s ‘evidence’ of malpractice in the ballot.
Sad, maybe – but I have been buried by this stuff for some time -my choice, I know – but I blame him anyway.
