Overnight thoughts on Hillary
Yes – I do have some funny thoughts overnight – but rarely about her!
Prompted, I guess, by my last post – ‘The Georgia Indictment – Trump 0 .V. US Department of Justice 119’.
During the 2016 Presidential Election campaign – with Republican, Trump standing against the Democrat candidate – HillaryClinton – she was subject to an FBI investigation for potential misuse of personal email accounts for government business – which could be a breach of security’
It transpired that she had, over time, seventeen different accounts / numbers and her staff regularly wiped and destroyed old phones for security and privacy.
She supplied copies of 30.000 personal emails
The conclusion from the FBI was that Clinton treated sensitive, classified information in her emails “extremely carelessly.” But then-FBI director James Comey said there was no evidence that she intentionally deleted emails to conceal them or obstruct justice.
No further action was taken.
Trump ignored that, of course, and repeatedly said –even behind her in joint press conferences – and had crowds at rallies – chanting – ‘Lock Her Up!’
The irony of the current situation, is unavoidable, and I think it’s to the credit of Hillary that – in her live TV presentation – just after the Georgia indictment was publicised – she finished with –
“The situation – went right to the heart of whether or not our democracy would survive.”
And looked genuinely upset by it all.
I doubt that I could have resisted the punchline finish –
‘Now – ‘Lock him up!’
She was right to resist, of course – but, I have, this picture in my head – of Trump – in the reverse situation – standing up and leading the audience in – ‘a chant of – ‘Lock Her Up’.
