BoftheBang Update – 17/06/2024
Looks like May didn’t happen since my last update.
Just one event – Fury V Usyk – for undisputed World Heavyweight champion – for those not interested – we are talking about – boxing.
Not a good result for Tyson – lost on a split decision – I’d like to say – ‘He was robbed’ – but, probably not – Usyk is the real thing.
Now – I try to avoid repeating conspiracy theories – there’s too many online already – but –
Tyson) allegedly) received $57 million as his share of the purse (said to be 70% of the total) – with no contract clause reducing it, if he lost.
What the contract did include – was a mandatory return if demanded by the loser – Fury claimed a re-match, a few minutes after the score was announced.
He will be on a reduced percentage, now, of course – but will still not a bad night’s work.
Anyway – a pleasant evening n front of the box – despite the result – in the company of Kath and Steve – my next-door neighbours – from number 5 – who brought a bit of supper – and we emptied quite a few glasses.
In fact – I will admit – just to you – that the following Sunday morning – I went online to just check the result – well – I knew it was close – just not sure which way!
So that was May – June was very different – so – I have reverted to bullet points – ignoring the usual visits from Tesco. Marg. my mate and cleaner – podiatrist etc. –
just the irregular ones (I have just realised – that description might be a bit misleading – but ‘abnormal’ would be worse!).
So – visits to my place:
Tuesday 11 – Diane – Jean’s Goddaughter and one of the Executors of my will – along with her sister, Kate.
Not being maudlin – just have to plan ahead!
Wednesday 12th – Sue – workmate of Jean’s from NatWest -and now a family friend.
Nice catchup and she brings lunch / tea – sausage rolls and a lovely strawberry cream cake. (for my upcoming birthday)
Thursday 13th – Marg. – extra visit before she goes off on holiday.
Nice exchange of birthday presents – her’s close too.
Friday 14th –
Around noon – visit from Andy & Jan – Andy – Jean’s senior boss at NatWest International (Head of Overseas Trade Services) Jan, his wife, –
Andy and I teamed up when he took early retirement -I got him involved with the Institute of Export (IoE) – which he knew from a few -previous NatWest projects.
He got elected to the Council and Executive and Treasurer and eventually Chairman – all voluntary and unpaid. No surprise – he could ‘buy & sell’ most committee members,
We then worked together as bidders, designers and trainers on both IoE training projects and other private jobs – without falling out!
They were actually en route south to home, from a leisure visit to Yorkshire but diverted to call in for a visit and a pub lunch – I even get a lift to the local pub and back – highlight of the week.
Still not finished –
Friday 14th
6pm – visit from my son and his partner – James and Caroline – close to Father’s day – with presents – and they called into the local chippy on the way – ended up with a chippy buffet of most of what they did – including – – chips – sausage – peas – beans – gravy –chicken and a few huge fish.
With a bottle of wine or two and they stop-over – and are off home by noon Saturday.
Has to be said – I was glad of a bit of time to myself!
Certainly, slept well Saturday night.
P.S.
As I am now, apparently, getting older – I tend to home in on relevant comments on age – particularly if they’re funny – for example:
On the assumption that you are all adults and been around a bit – naming no names – I have only made a small edit.
“A sure sign of old age –
Your‘Bucket List’ starts turning into a ‘F***it List.”
