His lawyers would be very rich – except he keeps sacking them – and on tha subject –
Breaking news 26/07/2023
Rudy Giuliani concedes he made false statements about Georgia election workers.
Rudolph W. Giuliani, ex Mayor of New York City – joined Trump’s legal team in 2018 and took up the Trump claim that the result of the 2020 Presidential election was corrupted by officials.
It wasn’t long before – in 2021 – his is license to practice law in new York was suspended – for making false allegations of fraud in that election.
He claimed that he still had “legal defences” in a case brought by two election workers who said he had defamed them as he asserted that the 2020 election was marred by their fraud.
Trial Dates?
The main parties are now embroiled in ongoing arguments regarding trial dates. It is, of course, very rare, that one person is facing so many criminal charges – and is also, incidentally, planning to be nominated to run in the next presidential election – scheduled for November 5, 2024.
But, there is another, more subtle – -agenda here:
One of the major worries, of Trump’s opponents, is that, if he is able to delay any trials+ until after the Presidential Election — then stand as the Republican candidate, and win – to become President – he would then, have the power to ‘pardon’ himself and annul all verdicts against him.
On the down side for him – is the fact that – unlike civil actions – where he did not have to attend hearings personally , that is not an option for criminal trials – where the defendant is obliged to attend personally – unless there are compelling reasons which make it not possible – it is thought that ‘election campaigning’ would not be seen as – a ‘compelling reason.’ for non-attendance.
