                                  man with horn wall painting

As a postscript to a previous post – The Trump Indictment June 2023

Which brought the total of criminal charges against him – for which he awaits trial – to 71 –

He is now awaiting a new indictment in Georgia – accused of;

‘Attempting to overturn the result of the 2020 Presidential election.’

Makes it 72  in total (at the time of writing.

37 in Florida

34 in New York

1 in Georgia

The latter, follows a two-year investigation and the indictment – with at least two criminal charges – is scheduled for the end of July.

His lawyers would be very rich – except he keeps sacking them – and on tha subject –

Breaking news 26/07/2023

Rudy Giuliani concedes he made false statements about Georgia election workers.

Rudolph W. Giuliani, ex Mayor of New York City  –  joined Trump’s legal team in 2018  and took up the Trump claim that the  result of the 2020 Presidential election was corrupted by officials.

It wasn’t long before –  in 2021 – his is license to practice law in new York was suspended –  for making false allegations of fraud in that election.

He claimed that he still had “legal defences” in a case brought by two election workers who said he had defamed them as he asserted that the 2020 election was marred by their fraud.

Trial Dates?

The main parties are now embroiled in ongoing arguments regarding trial dates.   It is, of course,  very rare, that one person is facing so many criminal charges – and is also, incidentally,  planning to be nominated to run in the next presidential election  – scheduled for November 5, 2024.

But, there is  another, more subtle – -agenda here:

One of the major worries,   of Trump’s opponents, is that, if he is able to delay any trials+ until after the Presidential Election —  then stand as the Republican candidate, and win – to become President – he would then, have the power to ‘pardon’ himself and annul all verdicts against him.

On the down side for him – is the fact that – unlike civil actions – where he did not have to attend hearings personally , that is not an option for criminal trials – where the defendant is obliged to attend personally – unless there are compelling reasons which make it not possible – it is thought that ‘election campaigning’ would not be seen as – a  ‘compelling  reason.’ for non-attendance.

Trial Timetable – 2024

As at (24/07/2023                                      Alleged

and

March        Washington DC   Obstruction of an official proceeding,

Conspiracy to defraud the government and

Incitement of an insurrection.

(Ref. – Invasion of the Capitol Building /Senate on 6/01/2021.

and

all shown as Trump Org. business expenses – a serious tax fraud with 34 criminal  charges.

N.B.  Also indicted – Two Trump Org. employees –

Michael Cohen – former lawyer

Allen Weissenberg – Chief Financial Officer.

Both of whom pleaded guilty and agreed to testify against the Trump Org.  (It’s a recurring theme – that ex-employees of Trump, very  rarely show any loyalty towards him.

Trump pleaded – ‘not guilty’ to all counts –as he always did!

He was indicted on all 34 charges

As his ex Attorney General said – live on Fox TV –  with reference to the ‘mishandling of security documents’ –

“If even half of what is alleged  is true, then the former President is “toast”
